Our largest wildlife pond has plenty going on during the day, most recently damsel flies emerging. However, we took a torch out the other night and was amazed to see the amount of wildlife active at night. A couple of newts swimming round and the usual frogs but we saw far more of our little sticklebacks, loads of caddis fly larvae emerging from their tubes and foraging about, and several other creatures. Well worth a visit if anyone has a pond (Do take care of small children, some of the creatures we saw looked very hungry
).

Some years ago a friend, a respected environmentalist, came over and was looking in the pond at our last house. Spotting a large Dragonfly larva, she pointed to it, dipping her finger in. It bit her! Excitement is a great thing, isn't it?
