If you have an article to submit to the site (cheers!) please can you follow the guidelines outlined below - it makes it quicker to get your article up in the way you wrote it!
1. Please submit articles as a plain text document.
2. Please mark where in the text you would like any photos to appear, by highlighting in blue at the exact point, i.e. (Pic 1 here please)
3. Please rename all pictures "Pic 1", "Pic 2" etc. before attaching them to your email with the text of your article.
If we construct the whole article at home prior to sending, does that cause problems at your end?....Is it better for you if we send text and pix seperately?

Not problems really - if you find computers a bit difficult, don't worry, we can sort most things out. It's just that to make consistent formatting etc the text has to go in to the editing software as plain text so a Word doc is handy to work from.
It's easier and quicker for me if text and pics are separate, but I wouldn't want that to stop people making submissions.
Okay. Can we pictures from the web? I am thinking about copyright here. I mean like taking images from other sites or google?
No, you can only use pictures from other sites if you have permission from them. Usually that's a question of a quick email to the site owner, who will often be quite happy to provide them in exchange for a link and a credit. More corporate sites might not be able to grant permission so easily - it's also possible that another member will be happy to provide a pic or two - for example, Madcowman's lambing article has pictures kindly provided by Rob R.
A further alternative is a link like those on Cab's articles, to someone else's archive. This means you can provide info to your readers, without infringing copyright and in fact, doing those sites a favour by providing more links!
There are some copywright free sites out there that are worth a look, some you have to pay a subscripiton for pics but there are plenty out there that you don't.
If it's a plain text document, how do we alert you to where the pictures need to go in blue...? Write in the BBcode?

Simply put [insert picture 1 here] into the text. That will be fine.

I think it doesnt have to be an utterly no frills plaintext doc, just not something with loads of formatting. I have for example in the past, written my article in a forum post in the Authors corner and its been magicked into an article by clever people who understand how.
Please, anyone considering writing an article, don't be put off by the technicalities, its what you write thats important, there is always someone to help get it into the right format
