1 x 250mb internal
1 x 250mb USB

Very handy way to back files up, much quicker and easier than CD

Why do you think I'm getting rid of them?

Very handy for backing up your Office data and email though.

Must admit I am backing up up files to another PC as I post, your post made me consider how sloppy I have been getting in the last month

I back up everything at least once a week, I've been caught out before so now I take as few risks as possible.

I've found a 100Mb zip drive fine for me. Cannot get hold of the disks any more.

Most of my work is static, some like this site is inherently backed up online. So it is easy to get a bit complacent. But that can so easily be fatal. Having said that I have worked from home for 10 years through numerous PC break downs, and have not had a problem.

I think part of the answer is that I have always cloned/upgraded the main hard drive every year or two, which tends to keep me one step ahead of hard drive failure.

I've had a hard drive go after a little over a week. I did recover all the data but it can happen.

I know it can, but the general rule for hardware is blow in a week or blow after the guarentee runs out, hence the "clone" approach is quite a good one.
