Well, the septic tank chose yesterday to overflow for the first time. I'll have to get it pumped out, and I know the chap may well say we need a new one. If he does, I need some arms in the reed bed debate to convince the old chap that's the way to go. I'll be getting on to CAT, but has anyone here ever built one?

Have a word with Melvyn & mention my name- https://www.yes-reedbeds.co.uk/ We looked at building our own, but it's just not worth it. This guy has a real passion for reedbeds! I keep trying to get him to do an article for us on here, he's said yes, but like these things usually do; he hasn't got round to it yet.

Must have been a day for it yesterday, I posted pretty much the same thread. Yes-reedbeds do have an impressive site and I will be calling them. The cost of the whole system (tank and beds is £3300, which it rather good (considering we just paid the same for a couple of new soakaways!). I am looking for a grant to fund the system, will let you know if I find anything.

Reed beds is part of what my husband does for a living. I'm not sure if there are any details on the website but I know he has done them in the past. https://www.landline.co.uk

Thanks for those, Rob and Lou: I'll send them to the old chap to look at. He's a hydrogeologist, so he's nominally in charge of this sort of thing. Someone reminded him that one of his colleagues has done reedbeds too, so we should have no problem finding someone to do the work: heck, we can do quite a bit of it ourselves, if we're pointed in the right directions.

Wish me luck with the 'conversion' and thanks again for tha ammo!
