Does any one here use nets for catching sea fish?

I am talking about ones like sole tangle nets & gill nets.

I am just about to get a boat on the water & have been considering using one to up my rod catch so we can get a larger % of our food from the sea.

What would the best mesh size be for a dual purpose net (sinking & floating)?

Not sure if I will just alter it each time I want to use it or if I will cut it in two & have one of each. What would a good lenth be to use from a small (14') boat?

Any other tips?

Oh & before you all bemone drift nets & the fish suffering as the net is in to long, the nets will be fixed & only placed out at the start of the trip & brought back in at the end just a few hours later.
