I have read loads - various sites including DEFRA - but I am still a bit confused about whether I need to register/stamp my eggs.

I sell to colleagues, and was going to give some eggs to the school (where I work and my children go) to sell, and keep the takings, but am now wondering if I can.

I have 4 layers, and I have read you don’t need to stamp/register if you have under 350, but have also read that new rules are in force as of 1st July 2005, and you need to if you sell to a third party which would count if I gave eggs to school to sell. I am left a bit confused - can anyone clear this up for me, should I contact DEFRA?

my understanding is that as the eggs you sell are classed as "farm gate" then stamping is not necessary as you are able to be contacted directly by the puchasers should they have any compliants which of course they won't have because your eggs like mine are of a far superior quality to all those supermarket ones

so no need to stamp and register.

As Nanny says, your sales are classified as from the farm gate. You do not have to grade and stamp the eggs. If you wanted to sell at a farmers' market or sell them to a shop or restaurant, you would have to though.
