This is very embarrassing

to have to admit but I've made around 50 frames too many. I must have been having so much fun tapping small pins with the hammer that I lost count...

These are a mixture of frames for the brood box and supers, with wired wax foundation.

What's the best way to store these in the house ?

Should I pull out the wax foundation and lay it flat somewhere ?

Can wax foundation be stored in an air-tight container or does it need to breathe ?

You can leave the wax in but either wrap up or box up securely against wax moth and keep away from heat---don't think breathing is a problem---mines not choked yet

If its easy to remove foundation is best stored flat. In the frame in time it will sag unless the frames are stored upright. Polybags, carrier bags & as lottie says not near heat source.

We've had a problem with the Dreaded Wax Moth, despite wrapping it securely and keeping it in the house. Pesky things .

Quite right---sorry forgot to say store them upright

touch wood we've not had wax moth problems---but they are boxed and then overwrapped.

Does any one use moth balls or moth-ball-like substance to deter wax moth ?

don't think I'd use moth balls (the moths might get cross if I tried to operate) mainly because the smell is rather strong. It could get into the wax.

They used to recommend Naphthalene crystals ( moth balls) on newspaper over each super to keep the moths away but they need airing well in the spring before putting on the hives.
Not sure if you can still buy it anymore I think its one of those chemicals which now have H&S problems.
