I mowed the grass this afternoon. Felt a bit odd at not-much-above-zero but needs must when the devil drives.

Ours is growing, too. I'm quite excited.

Good, we are currently in the Somme, but it's drying out slowly. Bottom field no longer has standing water on it. Hope the grass grows soon...

We've had a week without rain. It's probably a sign or a portent or something.

You lot have hope piped in?

Long range forecast is chilly, bright, dry, windlessish. Couldn't be happier.

That's been said before .

Our puddles are slowly disappearing and there is grass coming through the mud. I am starting to hope that I might actually be able to dig a hole in the ground and not have it instantly fill with water.

They've been cutting the grass round these parts for a couple of weeks now and I don't think it's rained for over two weeks. (Actually similar to last year IIRC, a very dry spring).

I noticed many of our fruit trees trying to grow, so I've had to nip round and finish the winter pruning.

We've gone from months of rain and mud to hard frost and frozen ground - better- but still no hope of it being warm enough for the grass to grow.

I was hoping to start digging over the future vegetable plot. I thought it woudl be good exercise and the weather has been lovely. instead I spent the afternoon cleaning out the lambing pens as we had twins born overnight. A little ahead of themselves it has to be said and not at all premature. Not sure how that happened.

I have made the mistake of sitting down before tackling tonight's meal. I might need waking in a minute.

Lawn needs cutting but is still too damp.

Mind you, the drier weather has made the allotment perfect for digging as my back is reminding me this morning.
