And I wonder if Timmy's nose is so 'whiffly' then... I'd better check my old Famous Five books and find out.

Noun or not, I'll have you know that I whiffing whiff my ferret.
Whiffing hell what a whiffing load of nonsense !
It whiffs like a load of whiff.
You'll obviously have to get Gervase a well heducated one, one thats been for electrecution lessons like what I have

PS
There used to be some small cigars made by Wills of Woodbine fame called 'Wills Whiffs'

moving swiftly on.....................

do they smell in themselves, have they an unpleasant odour

are they the animals that smell similar to a skunk?

people keep them in their houses so i am a bit curious...............

i rather fancied a ferret at one time but went off the idea when we ended up with 12 baby rabbits by mistake

Why does one want to keep a ferret? I presume that the answer is "rabbitting"? Can anyone tell me how that works?

Suburban Innocent.

I've only been once so if someone with moe experience would like to add/correct me then please, please do.

Yep, they are used for rabbiting. Select a warren you know is being lived in, cover all the entrances with nets designed for ferreting and pop your ferret down a whole. Keep quiet and wait for the ferret to scare the rabbits out into the waiting nets. The you grab the rabbit and kill it as humanely as possible (break it's neck or hit with a 'priest' i.e. a heavy object.)

I must admit that rabbits can escape if you're not quick enough and you may spend 30 mins or so waiting just for the ferret to pop up in another hole and no rabbits. Probably best to get someone experienced to show you what to do if you can but it's a great way to catch your dinner.

It certainly is, and the time waiting for them to come up is very exciting. It's a very humane way to hunt them too.

Nope, I'd left the office muttering to myself how ineptly incompitent and ignorant customers can be - still muttering and seathing at 10:30 whilst trying to get to sleep. You were, for a few hours, entirely inconsequential MJ.

On Dogpages (can't remember the rest of it) in the Forum - the other animals part - there is a woman running a ferret rescue - who appears to have an awful lot available. Please try there first - just to slow down the indiscriminate breeding of animals. (Yes I know three accidental children and no rescue places available unless fully house trained unfortunately )

Smelly beasts. Gervase wants one, but I said no

I have neutered ferrets and have kept them as indoor pets. They do not smell any more than a cat or dog does. Uneutered hobs stink as do the jills when they are inseason. Don't get one, you need at least 2. They are affectionate and friendly pets.
