Went round 4 places selling plumbing gear this morning, not one of them could give me an 8mm radiator valve with drain.

I was going to "hot swap" on the lowest radiator, to get this issue sorted for once and for all.

Instead i'm now draining from the boiler drain with the system still live, which should at least flush out the cleaner I put in.

Then i'll just let it really drain so I can do the work I need.

Hi, just make sure you open all your bleed valves, you can back flush the system, put a hose on to a drain point ( take it you are fitting one with the system empty ?) bung up your relief to your f & e tank, another hose from your boiler drain point, to outside.
Was doing a plumbing job in Swindon, got some bits from a big diy supermarket, on the Greenbridge retail park.
Dave.
BTW Our firm have finally got round to sending my Electrician on his 16 th edition regs................17 th coming out soon !

Thanks for the tip, is done now anyway.

Next job, I want to tile most of the wall before putting in the new suite, i'm clumsy so there is alsway the risk of dropping a tile from on high, so want to lessen the risk of damage to the new stuff.

I put a suite in for a mate , the tiler asked for a 15mm gap behind all the fixtures, so i plumbed everything in with a small sheet of 15 mm ply behind it, used flexibles with isolator valves on. Made the job much easier for him ! Just disconected it all, tiled it all then reconnected.
BTW its worth checking push on flexible fittings/hoses to make sure they've got the' o' ring in, had a couple that didn't and leaked after a few weeks
