Top right (1?) for me too. Looks balanced, it's clear, just works, somehow.

I like 3. And I like the suggestion someone made about closing the circle for the moon.

No, no: the wings imply a complete circle, and the feathers look like fingernail moons anyway! Much more subtle.

Given the name I would go for a shorter phoenix, placed in a circle (moon) with the text around the outside.

that's very simular to the logo I had

Logo will be printed and online. size wise it will depend on the item. I have address labels, letterheads, website logo...

definatly do not want a sinister look. perhaps it needs to be more rounded? or different colours? I make jewellery. Alot of it has a spiritual basis like healing crystals, chakra related items and pendulums. Mostly I work with silver and semi precious stones. I also hope to start selling some of the things I sew. I really like this logo but it needs to be right, I wanted a more earthly, natural, spiritual type feel. Something kind and soft, maybe like those black statues you get, that are just an outline with no detail at all but it's totally clear what they are. I'm not very good drawing with a mouse but I can draw well on paper and then transfer it to the pc

Is this better? a softer, kinder look?

bothered about the other looking sinister, as someone said when I look at it like it, it does too. makes me think of some secret dodgy goverment department

Gawds I'm sorry to have caused you so much angst!
I'm a Pagan (by birth) and I'm probably more sensitive than most about anything new agey being portrayed as something 'dark' or spooky. Its one of my big bug bears.
However, I DO like the phoenix, its just that I prefer the outlined one to the solid one, seems less brooding somehow.
The new more rounded shape is friendlier too, IMHO.

Softer, but still lacking the moon element of your name. Phoenix Moon is a lovely name though.

Yep - the rounder shape of the wings looks like a feathery hug
