PS Forgot to mention... anyone going to Stoneleigh for the first time... you must take cash for the tickets (they don't take plastic) so you queue only to be sent back to a cash machine that is miles away from the entrance... by which time the bargains have gone!
Doors open at 9.00 (details on the BBKA website).

only recently had our BBKA membership pack and we're thinking of going. Trouble is there is loads to do on the plot and whilst I'd like to go I'm trying to make sure that this new hobby doesn't put back the other things we do. Still working on that one and it may be a snap decision at the weekend. Have the kids so can't see them sitting through the lectures but are the stands enough reason to go?

Well worth going for the stalls and stands but kids wouldn't like it----and it's very crowded round the thornes stall for example---we've only got one left at home now on his easter break from uni who we'll leave revising. Some stuff on the thornes stall is much cheaper than the catalogue for example national super £9 and 50 DN4 frames £24---We are going as we are expanding now we have the space and I was short of honey jars last year and had to pay over the odds at short notice---Freeman and Harding sell reasonably priced jars at Stoneleigh and you get a reduction with your BBKA card. Best bet is to arrange babysitters next year----loved bringing up my 5 but we've had kids at home for 34 years before the last one went to uni and the freedom to do what we want when we want is novel and nice

It's the BBKA spring convention at Stoneleigh this weekend for anybody who doesn't know and wants to look at bee stuff-----you'll make the entrance price back by what you save buying the hive part seconds from the thornes stall if anyones thinking of making hives

Where's stoneleigh? (ish!) My mum's just got some bees, and might like to go. I need more space to have bees, as himself has a phobia of flying stinging things, and doesn't like honey. He does like mead, though.....

From you, 45 minutes up the M40, then 10 minutes off Junction 15.
