All the items on my website are handmade by me. Occassionally I've even made the beads, chain, clasps, earwires etc. I am wondering how best to word the text on my site. should I say things like 'I work with a variety of materials including..... ' or 'phoenix moon jewellery is made using a range of material including...'

I don't want to sound fancy or like a big business. I want to sound friendly, personal, small and as though people are dealing with a real person not like some faceless corporation but also professional and trustworthy.

The former then ... 'I work with a variety of materials including..... ' IMO, sounds better. As long as 'Hand-made' is in there somewhere as that is very important. I wouldn't expect a torrent of replies today though as I fear alot of the addicts have gone to (or are in) Wales. At least I am assuming that is why it is so quiet on here today. (shall we raid the store cupboard )

I agree with Simon - use phrases like hand crafted, craftsman made, designed and made by the artist/jeweler..... IMHO people are looking for hand crafted items and value the uniqueness but sometimes not prepared to pay for it.....

You'll also want to think of words/phrases (like 'hand made') that people will in websearches, when they are looking for what you have to offer, to draw them towards your site.

I like this! And Rob R makes a good point - try and include the words you use in your Keywords in your text, I think it gives them more weight.

(*waves* I haven't gone to Builth, we went for a second viewing of the Fantastic Perfect House and have decided to put an offer in!)

Yeah, same place, but apparently it's currently NOT going to sealed bids unless they have more interest. There's just us so far .... . Just sitting down with a spreadsheet now to work out what we think we should offer for it.

All my jewellery is individually designed and handcrafted in the UK using semi precious gemstones, glass and silver. I create items with healing, spiritual and magical work in mind as well as pride jewellery for the gay and bisexual communities.

All items are one-off or limited pieces.

I am always happy to discuss any special requirments so if you would like an item in a different colour, size or style please email and I will do my best to help. I am also happy to create custom design pieces.

Though all items can be worn purely for decorative purposes the gemstones stones used all have useful healing or otherwise helpful properties, for example Hematite is used to aid circulatory problems or blood conditions such as anemia. The links page lists sources for further reading or if you'd prefer, email me and I will do my best to help you find an item to suit your needs.

Great, really great. It sounds professional, friendly and approachable. And what about tweaking 'limited' to 'limited edition'? Sounds even more arty!

Sounds good - polished yet approachable. Make sure your meta-tags reflect all that, by the way. They're what most search engines will hit upon.

I would say that in todays market "limited edition" is marketing speak for we normaly can sell these in bulk (IE 100,000) but dont think these will sell that many so have only made 10,000. For the smaller market say that each one is unique or individual.

This is very good advice. Make sure you also state what ever your focus is more than once on each page. Also make sure that you use alt tags for images and that you use the title tag. Be repetitive and use a range of words!

For example if you make jewellery, then consider something like.

"I am an Artisan Jeweller making handcrafted jewellery including necklaces, rings, pendants and braclets. By hand making my jewllery it allows me to.... "

Sorry written quickly and not that well but you get the idea.

There are multiple words in there describing what you do and everything you do is listed. Write an entire paragraph and use it on your homepage. Then make sure you repeat the relevant words for each page - for example a paragraph on your necklaces on a page on necklaces and a paragraph on bracelets on a page only on bracelets.
