I quite agree, M-J. That sort of thing makes me break out in hives.

M-J, it's Friday. And anyway, you started it with suggesting naming them... It was an open invitation to wax lyrical

Typical; MJ displays the smallest sign of weakness and people swarm in to niggle her.

Thanks everyone - I'm glad you liked them - I'll try and get some more when I next check them.

Answers to questions - Yes I am just wearing disposable gloves - It doesn't really protect you from stings but it does stop you getting stuck up with propolis and allows you far more dexterity than leather gauntlets

As for the hives - they really are excellent quality and they are made from coppiced cedar in Somerset - I've got the brood on the wide bar hoffman frames as its saves you having to mess about with spacers

The neighbour looking over the fence is fascinated by the whole going's on - infact he's quite interested in having bees himself - the neighbours on the other side have a 7ft fence between us and them

My daughter is brushing the bees down to encourage them to go into the hive - they all congregated on the top of the brood box and looked lost

Did I see lots of protective clothing and equipment down to the ankles and bare tootsies?

Love the picture of the neighbour - OH is dead keen to have bees, I am a bit nervous....

Excellent pictures - really inspirational. Did any of the neighbours voice any concerns about you keeping bees?

Just wandering this to as it would be nice to have in my garden ,but i have children next door and i think the neighbours would object.Hope this isn't a daft question but do they tend to stray over to your neighbours for a quick lunch?

well must buzz off
