Here in Wales there's a 5p charge fr bags. I've been using cloth bags for years though! And I seldom buy bread: if I need it I make my own...

Or to put it another way. Many millions of birds, turtles, cestacians & fish are dying because they ingest plastic in various forms. Turtles particularly like plastic bags because when in the water they look like jelly fish that turtles love to eat.

What? You all don't have plastic bags? What do your bread products come in?

How do you get your groceries/goods home from the store?

In France supermarkets don't supply throw away plastic bags and you use strong re-useable bags that they sell for 80c each (they last ages) or your own cloth bags/baskets. Factory made supermarket bread is sold in plastic bags as is the in-store sliced stuff. However baguettes and bakery non sliced bread is sold un-wrapped or with paper wrapping. A lot of French people also have a baguette shaped cloth bag they use for their daily bread.

On a slight aside one thing I must remember is that in France where-as you can go into a supermarket and load your shopping into your own shopping bag before unloading it a the till, this is generally frowned upon in the UK and perhaps regarded as potential shoplifting

I'll do that in places like aldi or lidl that don't do baskets when i am only picking up a few bits and don't need a trolley. never had a problem from anyone.

I wholeheartedly understand the reusable sack, and why it's important to use them. We are slowly adapting that thought over here. I participate. I would say that less than 10% of Americans make their own bread/pastries/muffins/cookies. They come from the major bakeries around the country. I thought that all plastic bags had been discontinued being distributed in the UK!

At the Picasa I had three albums with the knitting of plastic bags: one with bags, hats, and the second with the third with slippers, rugs, flowers.
I buy several packages specifically for knitting. Cut out and knit. And use the packages from the store, friends gather for me a plastic bag. In Russia, too, is a movement against plastic bags to protect wildlife of the oceans. We sell plastic bags are the same as you, and biological, too, urge to sew reusable bags, and the yin to use plastic bags.
I'm keen on knitting from the plastic bags for several years.
Just the plastic bags are great for knitting bags, hats, sneakers. They keep their shape well, easily erased, worn for a long time. I wear them, my daughter, mother, friend.

I beg your forgiveness for my English. But really liked the bag in this topic.

Thank you all for a good reception. In my albums are master classes in knitting bags, hats and sneakers. Knitting I cut plastic bags 2 cm wide and knitting crochet number 2, 5, or number 3. And to finish, flowers I cut the plastic bags 1 cm in width and knitting crochet number 1, 5 - 2. In Russia many handicraft sites where women socialize, learn from each other.

i know a few phrases in russian, but none of them are repeatable in polite company.

my ex partner

his mother's parents were both born in russia, emigrated here as children in the 1920's.

I want to show you that I recently came up and tied ... A rose for the lazy ... This flower can be attributed to any knitted fabric.
