My word! That's very impressive. Well done!

Indeed. I thought Gawber scrambled out of that shallow grave very adroitly!
Seriously, the old boiler done well. I'm proud of her.

Praise indeed

As part of some sort of scheme to get 'match fit' or whatever they call it, she's inveigled me into accompanying her to what she called a 'spinning class'.
There I was, thinking it meant flicking a few brass spoons and lures out over the water and preparing to wax the trusty palakona cane, when she tells me it involves sitting on a stationary bicycle, pedalling like fury and going precisely nowhere, all the while being subjected to what is called 'inspirational music'. And one has to wear wearing man-made fibres, so the scope for flashovers doesn't bear thinking about.
Oh dear...

You are a brave (or gullible) man. Spinning is to cycle rides as Apocalypse Now was to sanity.

I quite enjoy spinning now the class has ramped up a bit. It is ever so ridiculous, but it doesn't half work up a sweat if you up the resistance.

And my instructor's inspirational music includes "Ace of Spades"!
