Our kitchen/dining area is tiled with those flecky reconstituted granite tiles. I really don't want to replace them on the grounds of cost, inconvenience and because I quite like them anyway. Though I'd have gone for quarry tiles if I was starting from scratch. Anyhoo, they need a really thorough clean and I suspect ideally some sort of sealant/polish applying. So what do I use? Or does it involve lots of vile chemicals and I should get a man to do it.

obviously you could try a different variety of household cleaners, but, when floor tiles are laid brand new now-a-days, especially quarry tiles, the grout dust and tiles are cleaned up by using a mixture of Linseed Oil being poured on and then a good rub with rags and loose sawdust.

If the normal stuff doesn't work, you can 'sandblast' stone with dry ice bits. The advantage is no nasty chemicals, and not sandy mess, as the dry ice 'melts' into gaseous CO2. (You might have to plant a tree or two to make up for the CO2 emissions, but on balance I think its better than chemical abrasive)

No idea where to get it done, or how pricy it is, but I'll ask OH, who might do if you decide it comes to that.

Visit a specialist tile supplier - the sort who supplies the trade - and have a chat - the Lithofin range has all sort of prodcuts for cleaning differnet materials and finishes. Most are water based and although caustic in concentration can be diluted and safely disposed of down the drain.
