It occurred to me that it's probably a reasonable time to get some garlic in the ground. Anyone got a particular type/source they recommend? I'm on nice, cold, clay soil now.

Mine went in in November in the polytunnel and came from Toulouse via Gardening-Girl. I have no idea of the type but GG might know.

I put mine in the polytunnel end of November - I'd saved the biggest bulbs of last year's crop.
The two varieties were Early Purple Wight and Thermidrome - originally got them from the local garden centre.
They are also available from the Garlic farm Isle of Wight who have a 'Spring Planting Pack'.

We only grow elelphant garlic and that was planted October - ordinary garlic just doesn't do well here.

I shall peruse a garden centre, when I find one the spring planting pack looks tempting though!

Now, does anyone know if you can do the same with walking onion bulbils?
