For xmas, someone gave me a sack full of daffodil bulbs. Bought ones, not from their garden.

Haven't ever grown these before, so can I put them in the garden now? If not, what can I do with them?

Or because it's late - pots and troughs this year then in the ground in Autumn.

They'll be fine planted in the soil now. We always planted on New Year's Day.

My son bought me some for Christmas last year and I planted them possibly even later than now ouside, and they all came up and flowered, just a bit later than my established ones.
