I have made an apple and green tomato chutney.
It is too sweet.
It doesn't need more vinegar.
I have let it down with water and added more chilies.
Anything else I can do?

Add something that's not sweet or acid? Beans, cauli?

I seem to remember that when my mother made green tomato chutney (when we had a surplus, and before she became allergic to tomato plants) that that turned out very sweet. I had always imagined it was a characteristic of things made with green tomatoes.

Add some salt and some toasted cashews (or oher nuts - but DO toast them off in a pan first). Savoury to balance the sweet.
