Thanks Dpack. Perhaps you might get the information you need from that Gregotyn. If not, let me know if I can pass your e-mail address on to an admin.

What an awkward situation for gregotyn. Cannot have a password keeper on "his" computer because he doesn't have one. Paper goes walk-about when tidying up (at least it does for me.) How will admin e-mail him if gregotyn cannot get on the library computer? We may have modern conveniences, but only when they work.

It's the time of year when I'm trying to shove houseplants outdoors for the summer. Afraid to look at the boxed up canna tubers in the garage as I expect they want potted up and outdoors also.

Yesterday I pulled poison ivy off a tree across the lawn from the deck so Himself could install a hanger for the two small Arcosanti bells I bought in Arizona last month. Weather station stopped working so we went up on the roof to replace its batteries. As long as we were up there also put the greenhouse shade cloth over the great room skylights. Then I planted 3 Callicarpa that a friend had given me. After which (having thoroughly washed up for the umpty ump time) I put some chunks of venison and pork belly through the meat grinder and made chili for our dinner. And also to "feed the freezer" for future meals.

And that was my Monday.

I can reset his password for him. The DS emails don't work very well any more. I'll DM Mistress Rose.

Thanks Sean, have answered your PM.

Jam Lady, I am trying to persuade my vegetable seeds to grow, but it is a bit too cool at the moment. Once some cabbage had come through in seed trays I put them outside, but they just sat there and didn't come on any further, so they had to come in again. I have only just got some of the others sown, but we have had near frosts here the last couple of nights, and generally cool by day, so probably best that they are late going in.

Tally Ho guys and gals-thank you all! Thank you Sean and Mistress Rose. I got it going first time, something of a miracle for me and "pooting". The new improved password has been given to a trusted friend-the Librarian here-so that in theory it can't happen again. Basically I shouldn't forget this password as "I am an 'umble woodcutter sir", from a Benny Hill sketch of many years ago. The book that I kept the number in was a book I had for those things I needed to know and I think a school child took it when I went to ask for more time on the computer. By now' if I had the book, it would have turned up all sheepishly if you know what I mean! I am able to use the computers here in the library any way as I have email and that was not affected, only the password for downsizer was a problem as I made it out of letters and numbers mixed up I know them now but not the right order

I have been catching up as far as possible, but I have been not long in the library as I have been unable to get in touch in order to make any comments and my typing is rather like a chicken looking for grain in the ground and it is in short supply-I'm slow!

Here in mid Wales it has started to rain this afternoon following a lovely sunny morning; this will slow the weekenders down a bit on the roads I expect, but hope it clears up for them.

I am not too worried as my weekend will be cutting wood. This week I, with an old friend, have been felling some trees by my house which have been dwarfing my home for a few years now and are about 3 times the height of the house. It has been a bit touch and go, at times but so far-about a third of the way through-all clear, with planned felling onto the garage roof to start and the completion of the felling in the opposite direction. They can't go towards the buildings in one go, so we knocked off the tops to the garage and the heavy bits towards the buildings and as they are now 20feet shorter they miss the buildings. Anyway I have finished work for the week and will be on the saw tomorrow afternoon. If the friend doesn't come I will be logging what we have cut so far and splitting if I can get through the logging.
Again thanks for your help.

Glad you are back with us Gregotyn, and a good idea to give the password to the librarian.

We have the last of our busy weekends for a bit this weekend, so hope to be able to report on Monday.

Went to give a basic woodland management course to a woman with her own wood yesterday, and was pleased to be able to tell her that hers was at least partly ancient woodland. Just a couple of hours in the wood wasn't enough to be sure, but most of it could be. Found some interesting plants and some lovely old trees along a boundary.

Thank you all for your welcome back comments.
I have been to collect timber this morning for my firewood enterprise, and will be processing that wood this afternoon after calling on a farmer friend, as I normally do on Saturday mornings after library. We put the whole world to rights, but he is always right in his eyes, but sometimes when I know he is wrong, I have to go get the evidence. He is an interesting man who left school at 15, with no intake of education, except maths., and started his own lime spreading business, progressing to general contracting later-some of which he still does.
After he married he moved to a caravan, they had 3 children there until one day his father announced he was retiring and he was to take over the farm and house, once the bank overdraft was transferred. Sheer determination got him to where he is today from 150acres to over 350 now, just beef and sheep and no overdraft. What I like about him is that he, at 75, is still working the tractors, but his son is doing the 600 sheep, with him doing most of the cattle work and the feeding. He has around 9 tractors and 4 loaders-I've pointed out that he can only use one at a time-but the reply is horses for courses!

Once the weekly "lesson" is over I shall go back to logging and kindling production. It appears that I will have to start a log selling enterprise or the timber will have rotted or I will die before it is rotten!

Thank you all again for your support.

There is education and education. Some very well educated people left school at 14 or 15 and have been interested in things so have learnt a lot after school.

Husband and I went to a reunion of my old school yesterday, and a tour of the school was included. It used to be a grammar school when I was there, but now it is now an academy I think and seems to be more performing arts. The facilities are a lot better in some ways, and there are more dedicated rooms for certain subjects, but not sure the kids get a better education. None of us have done so brilliantly that we are household names, but most of us have done pretty well, and certainly done something useful with our lives.

I was lucky as a school boy, I managed to pass the 11+ exam. This got me into a grammar school and so the chance to play rugby and eventually my favourite, hockey where I played scrum half and centre forward in the hockey much the best. Never been back to any reunion after the first! they are going to close

a big up for hockey, ace game although it cannot possibly prepare anyone for their first hurley practice with the south london crew.

GS, rugby then hockey at school then hurley in a south london park, with the public and dogs and jumpers for goals etc stuff

i asked can i have a go and got a proper education in stuff hockey rules are supposed to preclude. as we used to do "edgy" stuff anyway so i soon fitted in for a practice game.
they were shocking savage when playing nicely with friends and rellies so i really did not fancy going beyond a knock about now and again.

hurley is super good fun but you do need to abandon sanity and reason and teeth at the gate on the way in

Now I wanted to go to grammar school because they taught science and the girls secondary mod didn't. We had to play hockey, but I didn't like it, so managed to arrange my violin lesson for games double period. Hockey was at the field some distance away, so only had time to do netball at the annex just down the road.

We emptied the kiln yesterday and bagged up the contents. Not bad yield, and nice charcoal. The potato bagger threw a few bits around, including one bit that went right over my head and was retrieved by son as I didn't see it at all. Trouble is, we still have more on order than we produced, so another firing this week.

Soggy wet weather, several inches of rain over the last several days. Last Saturday was an outlier with gorgeous sunny weather - blue skies, trees incredibly green, light breezes. Today looks like it will be a repeat. Very welcome after gray soggy days with daytime temperatures in the low 50s Fahrenheit, nights in the upper 40s.

Hummingbirds are back so I hurried to mix the sugar water and get the feeder out.

Hard at work mixing potting soil and hauling cannas out of garage where yes indeed they had started into growth even though packed away in peat moss or wood shavings in a large black garbage bag in a heavy cardboard box. How do they know?

While we were in Arizona my granddaughter made a very tasty chicken verde. She sharded the recipe and I made it a couple of days ago. Sauce is tomatillo, poblano peppers, cubanelle pepper, cilantro. Very nice. I also made a verde with one tomatillo, onion, a little bit of jalapeno pepper on the side to add as preferred. Left over sauce so a couple of days later we had black beans and corn topped with an egg over easy - and some salsa verde. Also very good.

This morning is the Wednesday morning knitting group but rest assured I will be out and dirty this afternoon.
