Hi,
I'm Ian, live in the wilds of West Cumbria, I've a few acres of land, have planted about 1500 trees and want to develop a wild flower meadow on about 2 acre. (and if it "fails" I'll plant some more trees). I like ponds and wetland, plant trees, burn wood, am about to start growing stuff to eat and want to do more for the environment and biodiversity. Can't be fully energy independent as we get no sun for 50% of the year - but keen to look at alternatives. |

hello, enjoy the archive and chatting.
re energy , do you have moving water or gravity that could be used to provide moving water.
most types of water movement can be harvested fairly simply for leccy
afaik biodigesters only start to become useful if they are big , ie very expensive, they should have a constant consistent feedstock as a bit of this and a bit of that and none of what it had yesterday confuses the microbiology and they run a continuous cycle so any gaps in the feed supply leads to quite a long restart period.
iirc west cumbria has water in abundance, wind might be a possibility if you have an area with a decent smooth wind and a reasonable budget. |
