Have fun chopping wood Gregotyn. I have just got 2 more log sacks to make before Christmas (all being well), and 20 and a log load to deliver. If I don't make any more, we need to have the wood available ideally cut, but otherwise ready to cut, so we can make some more if ordered. Then after tomorrow, hopefully a bit of a break before Christmas to sort things out.

This is the last one, in theory, before "the Day", but knowing me I will be in tomorrow! Finished work for 2 weeks so happy about that, I don't work with a good bunch of lads, one of whom keeps talking in "the affected voice" of a moron, thinking that the unmarried must be odd. I happen to prefer being on my own!

Anyway, Merry Christmas to you all, in case I do other things tomorrow, and a happy, prosperous New Year.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year if you don't get to the library very much over the holiday Gregotyn. Look after yourself and have a good time. Don't overdo the wood chopping. All being well, I just have another 2 log sacks to do, then deliver, we have one load, a volunteer group meeting and a few odd bits of firewood to 'tide someone over' and we can pack up for Christmas.

Gz, Cassandra posted on FB yesterday, and I don't think the main fire rist on Tass is near her at present. Hope your friend is all right and gets her family and animals to safety.

I have at last caught up with the supply of kindling today!!! There were 3 nets in the outside bunker, and 4 in the inside shelf at my customer's shop and the 5 I took filled it up! However I will be going back to chop more wood today, and fill again tomorrow and check on Monday before I go away. I still have some "back-up stock, in case", a whole 10 nets! It has been a hard job to keep up this time, but modern parlance-I've been focused! I have no plans to overdo the chopping, but it will become my only hobby once I give the job up-well it is that or the model train to be erected in the spare room! The job being a reason to get up in the morning-I always wake early but then start to read if I am going nowhere special. Thank goodness for the library being open on Saturdays or it would be lunch time before I got up!

I hope all well for you Cassandra. Keep safe. I know you are not on the mainland. I wish you all the best as I have to go-the computer won't let me in for a further hour Merry Christmas to all on Downsizer forum and a good new year.

The smoke has carried a long way Gz. I know the fires are huge, but didn't realise it would be that bad. As you say, thoughts with all those in Aus affected by them.

Merry Christmas if we don't see you before Gregotyn. Hope you have a good time with your friends.

Cassandra is still posting, and a post yesterday showed the place she lives looking very tranquil. There was a fire risk map the other day, and she seemed out of the high risk zone then.

Sadly, Cassandras dog Sebastian has 'gone over the rainbow bridge'. It seems it was very sudden, so he didn't suffer long.

Managed a good start to the new year by cutting a reasonable amount of birch. It came from small tree size, so husband cut them with the pruning saw and I did the trimming and selecting. We got 6 reasonable sized bundles, but that will get smaller as a lot of sorting and cutting out of larger stuff. Still, that will go into the firelighting pimps.

First day back at work and the first day the library has been open since Christmas.
I hope all went well for you all Christmas wise. I am sorry to hear about Seb. He was well looked after and I am glad he didn't suffer. I am pleased Cassandra is out of the high fire risk area too. Offer her my condolences and good wishes if any of you get in touch with her. I have just e mailed my friend in Australia to find out if all well where they are and are they safe. I was supposed to be going out there when I left college to farm, but got involved with a girl with a timber business and that stopped that!

I hope you are all well and all had a good Christmas. I have been away, where their computer is a bit beyond me and today is the first day of opening since I last posted.

OK MR, so what are 'fire lighting pimps' or is it a secret or more likely I am thick? I have never heard that word associated with timber before. I am assuming it is kindling?

Well the kindling didn't last long and they ran out over the holiday I got it back to normal, but was accused of letting him down. This is annoying since the other seller of kindling in the town retired and neither my customer or I thought about the consequences, but I am now back up to speed for him and have some stock. I did 20 nets 'cut, chop, and net yesterday and will be going home to do some more tonight. I have about 20 nets already, so can have a day off at the weekend-no chance there will be more "weather" to come!
