A lot of winemaking recipes I read use raisins to add body, some say raisins or sultanas. Sultanas on their own are often used for a "sherry" recipe.

Has anyone any views of the differences?

Well I'm trying grapes in my apple wine as my grape crop was mostly munched last year but I managed to save a few. I have thought that many people have the odd vine that produces some grapes so why not use these?

Tell you what, could someone explain the difference between sultanas, raisins and currants?

Are sultanas white and raisins red? Either way, I should think from their taste that sultanas will add less colour and a more toffeeish, subtle taste, and raisins will add more colour but a stronger flavour?
