Having struggled half the day with a quad speed CD rom. I checked the current prices for simple CD Rom drives and find it to be under £10 inc Vat, from places like TekHeads. So I just popped to the local "wholesale price" PC place, where they want to charge £19.99 I have seen dual layer DVD writers for £33 lately So I'm having one final go with the quad speed.

If it's organic and free-range then I coulld go up to £1.50 a pound.
