A reminder would to all those people who say "but I'm just experimenting" "I'm only following the instructions in a book" "I just made it up as I went along" "everyone knows how to do this"...if you've got an experience of any move you've made towards "downsizing" (whatever that means to you), please do consider doing us an article on it.

Not for nothing is our main articles section called "Have you tried..."(even if some people hate the name ) - if you can bring yourself to write up your experience, and in an ideal world, put in a few pics, it's almost certain to be welcome. If you aren't sure, you can post up in the relevant forum or in this forum, and see what people think or if they have any suggestions or questions, and if you're really shy you can ask by PM.

The rest of Authors Corner has tips on how to submit your article and ideas that people would like to see to start you thinking, and if you click "Have you tried" under the main menu on the left of this page, you can see past articles.

Do have a go, we're all eager to learn from each other

Yes indeed and the folks here are friendly.

it has just occurred to me on reading this, that I have written five articles myself in areas where I know people could have a go at what I have written as I know I am only a beginner. But I can't think of a single adverse comment

I like to think that people respond well to stuff where they feel that they are learning along side the author. I imagine many of us have read and enjoyed "Hugh" books, some of which also convey that sense of a learning journey.

I think its as helpful to learn how not to do things, as how to do them. That way you can learn from other peoples mistakes, which is what the human race is built on (for better or worse!)

I'm planning an article on container gardening and seeing how much you can get out of a small space, not necessarily for Downsizer but just in general. I had intended to gather info and photos over the summer and then look at yields, overall costs etc to get a better perspective. I'm happy to submit this to the site but it won't be ready for another few months!
