An idea to throw into the mix.

Garden centres always seem to have many, many little packets of seeds specifically aimed at children; by giving a pack of radishes a funky face and putting less seeds in (!), the seed companies seem to try to get a more child like image, and they try to get the pocket money/adults buying for kids market.

I like this idea, but I don't think that paying a premium is a good idea.

So... How about we get someone to do an article on things for kids to grow? Which sunflower varieties, which radishes, which courgettes look pretty, what kind of flowers are quick and easy, growing cress and mustard, etc. We also incorporate appropriate 'seed packet' pictures ready for printing out?

Any ideas folks? Or, better yet, someone who has some sprogs who might have an urge to write us an article?

Our middle child, Niamh, kept telling us how well the sunflower she had sowed at school was doing. When she brought it home, the pot was labelled

Niamh
Potiron

which is a pumpkin.

I planted it out in my veggie plot, but she isn't interested anymore.

A couple of weeks ago we put some plants in the pots that fit on the Wendy House. They chose the plants - a combination of lavender, geranium and buttercup. They were very excited at the time but haven't even wanted to water them since.

Some children will be interested and some won't. I think we're looking for an article or two here, so that people who don't necessarily grow much themselves find us when they google 'plants+children+easy', or whatever.
