We had a wonderful firework show last night at 11pm. I couldn't hear any thunder though, so the storm must have passed well to the south. We had a light rain which softened up the soil nicely. I just sat out watching the show and enjoying the smell of rain on the soil.

Today's forecast, just issued, still says 15.1mm and storms, but we have had clear skies so far. If this doesn't come we'll be dry until the cold front on Monday.

Several storm centres floating around lat night - about 10.00, and glorious rain for a good two hours - some of it very heavy indeed. No watering today! Two very scared dogs, though - one of which decided to sleep round my neck - it was OK when he stopped shaking!

Great storm. Lights went out twice. Loads of lovely rain, and because I couldn't get outside, I actually got some very overdue potting up done.
Result all round!

When it came, the storm was massive. An hours deluge, enough lightning to read by. This morning, the ground looks dry again

A most impressive storm just hit work. Visibility down to 20 yards and pitch black, rain very heavy but very little wind.

Terri (54 km away) reports distant thunder, but still has all doors and windows open.

If it misses my garden I'll be greatly dischuffed.

Saw a sight I'll never forget last night - a Barn Owl flying about 12 ft infront of me about 6 ft in the air - she turned so I could see the whole wing span and her face and a HUGE pink/orange bolt of lightening struck behind her- Beautiful.
Then if it couldn't get better the heavens opened.

heard on the way home on bbc 2 that suffolk was bracing itself for several hours of horrible storms with localised flooding and power cuts etc............

about 6.30 it got really dark and there was a bit of lightenng and some thunder and then we had20 minutes dribble from out of the sky and now it's sunny again

i shall carry on being braced for a while yet but it seems like it has passed our house again.

Did anybody see the Confederation Cup Final last night. Apart from being an excellent game it was played in a stadium with a roof in Frankfurt. There was one hell fo a thunder storm going on outside, you could here the thunder over the commentary and crowd noise and even the rain on the roof. All was well until the roof began to sag, and swell and then tear and a continuous water fall fell on one corner of the pitch.

I had a horrible trip home last night. The tunnels in Brussels were flooded, as were many cellars, so traffic was very slow and being diverted all over the place. When I finally got to the motorway the traffic eased. When I came off, driving through the villages, the fire brigade was out in various places doing their bit, but there were no problems.

200 yards from my house, in the middle of Jauche, a stream had flooded and I had to drive through two feet of water. I nearly stuck and shortly afterwards they closed the road.

There was only light rain in the evening, so I had to come in this morning.

Belted down here for about an hour over lunch. The water was ankle deep outside.
