Not sure - sort of pointy thing, I think.

Anyhow, anything that you can use in a kettle to descale ought to be safe to use in an iron. I'd try the vinegar first too; if that doesn't work, a commercial descaling powder should do the trick.

HOT pointy thing too!
( most boring job in the world - have to do it as himself and the kids wear shirts to work/school.. mutter.. grumble..mutter )

Sounds obvious but have you checked the instructions that come with the thing - assuming you still have/ever did have them. Mine has a pop up bit that attracts all the crusty bits that you just run under the tap.

I got asked to do OH's shirt shortly after we started living together. It's a funny thing, but he didn't seem that happy with it, and he never asked me again ...

for some reason i remember that my mom always used distilled water in the pointy thing if she had to use it so that it didn't get coked up

i try never to get to that stage by not using it at all

A lot of models have a self clean button. Mine has, although I haven't tried it yet!!

Don't use it too often if I can help it, gives me back ache.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!
