now then, I think I've found the perfect pattern for the lace-terrified. Its got just one pattern row that you repeat over and over again, so no nasty surprises, and it can be done in a fairly small amount of yarn so great for trying out something yummy

I shouldn't worry - on past form it will take at least another five years to get finished! It does feel lovely - it's the yarn that's keeping me going - no matter how much of a mess I make of it, it will feel lovely and I will have a scarf I can wear. I've been really looking forward to wearing this yarn, and never found something suitable to knit.

I finished the second pattern repeat yesterday - I'm almost a quarter of the way through my yarn - does anyone have any suggestions about how much I might need for the cast off bit? As a proportion, I mean - obviously it will depend on pattern repeats.

I've decided to knock it on the head and do a different one -the pattern isn't speaking to me at all, even though it's one i've done straight -I'm doing this instead

That's fantastic! Thank you.

I'm knitting a pair of knucks for my niece for Christmas and still have a scarf to do. This should knit up quite quickly.

Fingerless gloves. Sorry, I was being lazy and not typing out the full name. Here's the pattern on Knitty:

I'm making one now, I'll post up a pic when I get home from work tonight, it does ineed knit up fast and looks far flashier than it really is!

I finally asked to borrow the scarf to photograph it.

Yer tis.

The lovely scalloped edge has not worked because I cast off too tightly and it looks a bit wonky in this photo but I'm rather touched that my Mum wears it a lot and really likes it.

It's made some of the pain more bearable .

At risk of reminding WW of her problems with this scarf, I finally got around to starting it last night. Look, I was busy in November knitting pressies!
Anyway, I'm using some handspun, hand dyed wool from the fibre weekend back in September. Not sure if I have enough to make a very big scarf, but we'll see.
So far, so good it looks like Sally's pics. But I've only done 10 rows.

Ooh, I might be a bit more capable of tackling this by the time I've finished my poncho!

Well seeing as I have been signed off sick for two weeks with consumption (or that's what I sound like, anyway) I suppose I might make some progress. I have been instructed to rest, and assume anything sitting down that's not stressful counts. Hmmm, on second thoughts...
