What's the simplest/quickest/most reliable/any way to find out the date a property was sold?

I'm working my way through upmystreet and nethouseprices but I suspect it may have been sold earlier than they cover.

I have the postcode and property name and address but nothing else.

https://landregisteronline.gov.uk

You should be able to find the title deeds and plan, £2.00 each, only works with Internet Explorer

Thanks Mr T

However

Am I being really blonde? I;m using IE but the results list - which includes the property I'm after - doesn't show anything to click in order to get the download.

Did it come up with this:

Results
We do not have a record of any Title numbers for this property. This does not necessarily mean the property is unregistered. We would find any Title numbers affecting it via a manual Search of the Index Map. You can post a request to us for a manual search if you complete a Search of the Index Map form online (instructions will be provided on screen).

Noooo:

Your enquiry has found: 6 properties
We have found more than one record that matches your enquiry. Please select the details you are interested in by using one of the links below. Each property is listed below like a file, but there is nothing to click, might be the settings on my browser, I must have cookies enabled

Each property has an orange coloured number starting with EX, click on that and it'll take you to the next step

No, no orange numbers, honest, look: oh, you can't see from there. But really, there are no such numbers. I did have a problem last week with another site I wanted to make a booking on, I think I might have changed some settings on my browser

Just tried that with Firefox and it works with no problems.

Until you get right to the end, once you've paid you get an error message...

I've tried it in Mozilla, FF, Opera, and IE. The only one that it really works with is IE, although Opera sometimes works.

Twasn't on that one either Rory, I think they mostly only go back 5 years and it might be longer than that

Turns out it is indeed all my fault, Tahir, luckily, can read, and spotted this on my results page:

"If you require information about addresses found that do not have a "Title number" you can post a request to us for a manual search, called a Search of the Index Map. "

land registry will only have a record of it if it has changed hands in the last 20 years at most (I think it might be less than that)

Local knowledge (libraries are a good place to start) or (gulp) a solicitor, but are sods and will probably charge you - I'll ask one of my pet ones, if I can find them under their piles of money!
