I was inspired by Jonnyboy and Tahir deleting all their foreplay from the front page thread.

We were advised to keep a cup of water in the microwave, when not in use, when we first had one, 20 years ago, as then if anyone turned it on, without putting something in it , it wouldn't get damaged.

I thought there were saftey issues about putting water in microwaves? Doesn't it superheat and explode when you take it out or something - or was that a wind up? I'm not ecxactly an authority on them, cos I don't have one, so it might have been a spoof!

Never had that, but I have milky coffee (which is just in the microwave now) and when you stir it the milk will bubble up (and often over the cup). When it works, it makes great frothy coffee, otherwise it is a mess

Hello just joined today.
If you cant find Wheat for your Wheat bags, you can use rice.
We have one each (4 of us) they were very useful when the heating broke last year. You can stick them in the fridge in a plastic bag too to put on sprains etc.

What does the rice smell like in the microwave? I love the lovely smell the wheatie bags give off.

Welcome by the way, and if you don't mind me asking how did you arrive at our humble abode?

Hullo, good evening (well, afternoon) and welcome, Culpeper

Did you make the rice bags yourself?

Hello
There was a link to this site on the money saving expert site this afternoon so I thought I'd take a gander.

I love making things at home myself so it is really my sort of thing.

Yes I did make the rice bags.I didnt put anything in them to make them smell so they dont really smell of anything. You do need to dampen them occasionally with damp hands.
I suppose you could rub the material with essential oils if you wanted a particular smell though.

just seen them filled with cherry stones in the health food shop. I think that is a great idea as it is something you would usually throw away. They were about £12
