i have never understood why rowing 180 degrees to the way you are looking is sensible
paddling is the way forward in owt smaller than a gig with a helmsman

canoe/kayak at sea is different to pond or river (some rivers can be interesting)

i quite want to tour some of west scotland by kayak, recon the mutts can do the kate winslet thing at the front

Thats a good price - even if bought at the buy it now price.

I have an Ocean Scupper Pro Angler for sale at present for more than that, and the tarpon is more expensive to buy new.

Kayak fishing on the sea is a very different kettle of fish than on a lake or river. I have been kayak fishing on the sea for just over 4 years and am happy to take anyone out for some safety practice and to show them the dos and donts.

There is a safe practice lake a few miles from here which is available most days, and plenty of safe beaches with no major tidal races to practice off. Happy to help any beginners that want to bring their kayaks over to west Wales, and self catering or B and B accommodation also available.

I might have some time free in July. Have you a garage, barn or similar available? Me and madame were thinking about a break in Cornwall, might be possible to combine that with a bit of boatbuilding.

We will of course be taking you up on this. In the meantime we are being pestered with a string of emails... would this one be a good one for someone who is 6'5" do you think?

Not a problem Cathryn - happy to help

Always best to try a kayak out for size/suitability etc before buying. As with most things horses for courses. Some are easier/faster/more stable than others. I have an Ocean Prowler 13 angler and an Ocean Scupper Pro angler in current fleet, but am planning on buying another Ocean Malibu 2 tandem kayak so 2 adults and one child can get out together this summer again. Mackeral and bass are on their way in

I built a canadian canoe and used it on the patch of water that Toggle showed though from the other side. Also built a few kayaks when I was younger and used them on the sea. All skinned with either PVC or tarred cotton though. Not sure if I could do it all again now that age is creeping up. Can be hard work on the sea in a canoe or kayak. Good fun though.

I'm 6'5" and used to go out in the Bristol Channel in 14'ers though they were beamier than the Tarpon at nearly 3' max. Also heavier. Lovely sea boats, solid as rocks. As said best to try first as they can vary a lot from one to the other even if the spec on paper is the same.
