Rain water from your roof and driveways is called surface water by the water board, and you pay the water board for the privilage to take it away via there sewers. they calculate that it costs you about £30.00 a year. also all the bath, dishwasher, shower, and sink water that we waste is called grey water we also pay for this to be taken away why, there are water purification systems that can be obtained to take this water and filter some impurities then it can be used to water ie your garden or wash your car but not for human consumption. if you are on a water meter this will save you a great deal of money who's pockets is your hard earned cash better of in. sites for info on this www.grammenmental.com www.freewater.co.uk www.oasisdesign.net www.straightshop.co.uk

How does this work for metered water. They charge sewerage on 95% of water coming in.

Inform the water board for your area and they will reduce the amount.

Oh and you can get two meters fitted. One for houshold (sewage chargeable) and one for livestock/greenhouse,etc.

I think the sewage charge on the second is zero or the same as a water surface charge (if that still exists)

The livestock, non house meter takes off from the other figure so youdo not pay sewerage on the livestocks water usage. It makes quite a bit of difference seeing that cows drink quite a lot a day.
