50:1 with any modern, synthetic oil will be fine - it's not that the engines have changed so much, more that the oils have. My old Seagull was meant to drink 8:1 petrol:engine oil, but sucks down Stih ... |

You can dump a load of straw on the surface, drag it round a bit - it'll absorb the oil. Then rake it out, let it dry, and burn it off... had to the same on my neighbour's pond when their tank leaked. |
