Its possible to buy from the vet a small tool made for getting ticks out easily.Its not expensive, you hook it on the tick and twist and it simply lifts off. |

Yes I don't think it would be a good idea to put it in a metal container.I only use plastic anyway -I find they are easier to clean and don't stain.
