gardening and master at arms came together in a very zen way

my yule gift trowel knife thing is ace, while relocating "weeds" to the deep and long mouse castle i needed to park it as three hands is not my build, saw a timber round, threw it

picked it out for the next relocations

for about 2 years i did 500 4 point and 100 short blade throws every day

more fun than playing darts unless that is how you play darts*

* lunchtimes in a fulham(pie chips pint boatrace only on that day type of pub) when i was fixing a house and the one next door, i got to know a now well known "amusing chap". he beat me at darts every time, until the one time i used my choice of projectile

the look on his face and on that of the landlord was priceless

Think the only way my transferable skills come together is in being able to get to an acceptable level in most crafts, except metal and stone, fairly easily. Not a real master of any, although I can manage to make a lot of things reasonably well, so if I want something I tend to try to make it.

Certainly not on a horse.

One thing chemistry taught me is not to mix chemicals and food when packing shopping; I always keep household chemicals in a separate bag. I also use as few chemicals as possible in the house, and as simple as possible. People go on about PM2.5 s in smoke then blithely spray things like aerosol polish around. They worry about VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and use scent boosters and air fresheners. When we got this house there were air freshener blocks all over the place, so we kicked them out only to have them retrieved by SIL, who likes them and isn't a chemist.
