Lots of people seem to be a bit down in this weather, so this thread is about a little bit of inspiration. Tell us what you are next planning on making, creating, designing, re-purposing or generally sprucing up

Fleece (the synthetic type) is good. Let's the heat through gradually and doesn't get too wet if you slop when filling.

I want to make some hob covers for my NEW STOVE ( ). WHere can I get some heat-proof fabric? I know what I mean, it's to go on the underside of a padded mat, and I'm sure I've seen such with a sort of metallic finish. I'll also be making place mats for the parlour table.

Getting back to the allotment (kind of abandoned last year due to the presence of small people) after that a new herb garden and (possibly) trying some nectarines in the garden. Something might turn up before either of those but that's the current plan.

Well I have some fluffy fabric left over from various other things and I thought I'd just basically make a cushion cover for the hot water bottle! cut round the shape twice, make the back of it with a slit in so you can get the thing in and out - only very simply!

What about the silvered material sometimes used for ironing board covers - is that tough enough- you could get a cover and take it apart if you can't find the fabric.

I'm knitting this : https://www.ethknits.co.uk/Sirdar/Patterns/Click/9088-click-aran.jpg

in this :

After visiting WVG's new home in Lampeter and seeing some lovely wood panelling in her kitchen, we're spanning one wall in the kitchen with similar panelling topped with a shelf, hoping that it'll mean one whole clear work surface to prepare food on

... I also made and erected an extra shelf (from offcuts) yesterday and this is now on the wall above the cooker, so things like cooking oils and vinegars are all in one place.

We bought Gareth a wire and sheet metal rolling mill yesterday (ebay) so as soon as that gets here I'm expecting to find all the cutlery squished flat and turned into objets d'art. Allegedly its to help with loads of jewellery projects he has planned his year, but the little gleam of gadget frenzy was definately alight when he picked it out

Well, I'm going to start having sewing lessons from Katieowl very soon. I have a number of simple projects to do first (draft excluders, cushion covers, putting zips into things etc), but ultimately I'm going to work up to making new covers for our sofabed.

Ooh - and I start belly dancing lesson on 14th January
