the question was asked.."what do they do with them"....well what she does is....sit twiddling with one, until she has about three inches of pattend bit.....then leaves it for me to trip on, kneel on, sit on, find, move, hide....etc.....then she makes another......the same thing happeneds...then makes another...etc...etc.....

Same problem here only I have to start them off for my little one...

You can actually buy books on them now showing you lots of different designs and things to make...

well actually, I have a vey old fashioned high chair...wooden..and i plaited some scoobies and made bars so my baby couldn't fall out! The picture shows the top rung..then another rung went from that rung downwards like a t-bar..so my daughter couldn't fall off the chair. They are great. She chews on them with the glee of a 10 month old. They stretch slightly as I put her in the chair. and they are easy to clean. I know they aren't very ecologically sound..but we didn't buy a new high chair ..all plastic...so scoobies made our wooden highchair workable!

you can use them as bracelets, key chains, or I'm currently using them as zips for where the end has broken off. And people make them because it's caliming, every one else is doing it, and they've got nothing better to do

They drive me crazy but they keep my daughter quiet and dexterous. She has made me a necklace out of several strung together, as well as the seemingly obligatory key ring adornments.

Whilst on holiday we found long strands of spaghetti-like seaweed on the beach and she even managed to plait some of that, so maybe it is teaching her some kind of useful cordage/rope-making skills.

Do you think the fabulous Ray Mears knows how to do scoubies with clematis bark, or deer sinews?

Once they are finished with I unravel them surreptitiously and use them whenever I need to tie something up. Snigger, snigger; fnarr fnarr.

I have the glittery ones, and have been harbouring thoughts of how I can best use them on the plot. Some elaborate bird scarer or a scarecrows hair!

have made my 1st key chain, its not that straight but looks ok. I'm thinking of trying them in my peg loom..
