Last night I noticed Seren was laboring gently along...I checked her at 2am, fine, I checked her at 6am fine, I went down at 9...two kids (I was told one by the scanner) on the floor and cold.
Firstly I thought they were dead, then I saw they were both breathing, but very very cold.....so I collected them into my arms, run to the static drying them as I ran, booted up my woodburner, put a hot water bottle under them and a towel to protect them.
So we had a trip to the vets, one was tube fed, one was too weak, then both home to warm up.....the vet has just been, second one was tube fed and they are both improving.
The sliver one Arian is now suckling from a bottle, and cloud the black one, is now warm and well enough to be tube fed.
Later I will be taking them back to Seren as I think she may come too....what a morning!

Hi Liz - sorry I missed your call. Heavens what a busy time for you and thank goodness you were there. Fingers crossed Seren will take to them (with a bit of persuasion ), but be prepared to have to bottle feed them . On the plus side - LUCKY YOU - TWO females; brilliant.

update......
Arian the silver one is now down in the barn, with a heat lamp on with her mother, bonding very well. She has fed a little, but I will go and
put her on the teat later again.
Cloud dropped her temperature again so is on a fluffy hot water bottle, in a box in front of the woodburner which remains at full tilt! She will remain in the static tonight....ohhhh she is calling time to try and get her to feed..once she suckles for herself I know we are on a home run!!!

New day, Arian is doing very well with her mum, she seems to be feeding even if I have not witnessed it!
She is warm and lively!
Maybe tonight I can cut out the 2am check!!

Thank you chickem that brought tears to my eyes! At times like these I don't feel like a rough tough smallholder, more like a wibbly girlie, it hurts to think about poor little cloud but I know I need to concentrate on the living.
Steff asked this morning where is cloud? I told him she had died, he asked why and I explained, he asked if he could see her! I said after we had checked Arian, we checked Arian and he asked again, I said but Steff she is dead there is no point, he said ok and carried on, I wish things were that simple as you get older maybe I need to adopt his approach to it all!

So sad to hear that. Take heart that there was probably something wrong with her though: you did all you could for her.

Hugs from here too.

Awww so sorry Liz. But if you couldn't save her then no one could, so don't beat yourself up. Its oh so hard when this happens (speaking from experience) and you have a heavy heart, BUT you still have one who will delight and enthral you and Steph, so go and 'play' and 'enjoy' - they grow sooooo fast.
