We have an oil fired system, that we aren't using yet, and the log burner, that does all the rads and the longue, which are thermostatically controlled. No themostat in use yet though.

well technically the thermostat is set to about 22C but it's only on for about an hour in the morning and then for (maybe) and hour in the evenign jsut to take the chill off upstairs.

The thermometer in teh sitting room started at 10.2C before I lit the fire yesterday and was a balmy 14.5C when I went to bed. it was even warm enough to take my hat off!!

Mine is set to 20 if I have visitors who feel the cold, but if I’m alone it tends to be off after an initial warming up the bathroom period, and I then put loads of layers on and load up the wood burner.

Same here and because it's a bungalow on a still day we can have hot water or a warm house but not both.

Set to go on to around 18 in the morning for DP getting up for work (about an hour all told). Off during the day with the autoon function set to go off if it falls below 12C (hasn't done that yet even with the current weather) - the children and I are either out and about or active at home in the kitchen or on computers or we wear jumpers and sit under a blanket if we are watching something or doing mass reading!

It comes on in the evening for a couple of hours to bung the temp back up to 16/17C

We have the thermostatic things on the radiators as well, but they don't seem to work particularly well so I'm not relying on them.

I've turned the heating down again because it's so cold

I.e. running the heating constantly at a lower temperature from 7am-11pm. House not warm enough to be without jumper, but nor is it ever cold either. No idea whether this uses more or less energy, but purely from a comfort perspective it works for me.

The glass in our front door just shattered - blooming draughty in here just now! Best see if I can get the rest out and clean up without bloodshed.

The difference between what my CH thermostat is set to, and actual room temp is quite large. e.g. set at 15, but rooms are 12.

However, thick walls mean that generally, after a cold night [average -10] without the heating on, the rooms are still about 6-8C. I don't want to find out what would happen if I didn;t put the heating on for a couple of hours each morning.
Woodburner gets lit once the sun starts to go down. And then the room is 18 [and feels far too hot].

My house is at the top of a hill and faces due South. At this time of year the sun (if it's out) shines directly in the windows for most of the day, which means I don't need the heating on from 9 to 5. I usually put it back on when I get back from walking the dog and then switch it off again if/when I light the woodburner.
It's a different story altogether on overcast days.

I don't know - it was very old glass in the stained glass inner door. It's a shame because it was etched with a pattern, but it must have developed a crack because I shut it normally and a big piece just fell out and shattered on the tile porch floor.

Even more annoying, the woman who came and reglazed the coloured bits for us when we moved in has gone out of business.
